Beautiful art on a beautiful day

Last weekend I was in Dallas for a cousin's wedding (another one!) and was lucky enough to have time to visit the Nasher Sculpture Center. If you're ever looking for something to do in Dallas (other than shop), you should really try to spend some time at this museum. The permanent collection is fantastic (Rodin, Picasso, Matisse, Brancusi, Moore...), and the sculpture garden is a beautiful oasis in the middle of downtown Dallas.
They've got an AMAZING exhibit right now. If I lived in Dallas, I would have to stop by and look at these pieces at least once a week.

I know some people are sort of put off by modern art. They don't get it. But I think that you can enjoy a piece more if you don't worry about understanding it. Enjoy the sensory experience without thinking so much. Just step back and look at it, soak it in. Take some time to be present with it. If you're looking at a sculpture, walk around it. It's really no different from admiring the beauty of a tree, or a flower, or anything else.

I'm posting pictures of some of the pieces from the exhibit, but there is no substitute for seeing a work of art in person. Still, I hope you enjoy the photos. Maybe you'll be lucky enough to see the exhibit for yourself.

Spending a couple of hours enjoying some world-class art is such a beautiful way to spend a Saturday afternoon!
